Village Hall History The original village hall was formerly
the Women's Institute and was handed over to the village in 1962. It was
a wooden construction on a small site in upper Holywell Road. By the
early 1970 's it became clear that there was a need for a new hall. After much fund-raising and applications for grants the village hall
committee together with the local doctors purchased the present site on
Quarry Ground to provide a hall and surgery. 1980 saw the official
opening of what was to be named: The Village Hall Edington, as it was
to be used by all the central Polden Villages in recognition of the help
received from Catcott and Chilton Polden villagers. |
